Carrier Walk Sequence Mail refers to commercial direct mail sorted by a marketer according to the sequence followed by the mail carrier on his delivery route; also called delivery sequence or enhanced carrier route walk sequence saturation (ECRWSS). ECRWSS will often qualify for substantial postage discounts. The USPS® commercial mail guidelines outline that – mailers must use the delivery sequence file or another file approved by the U.S. Postal Service. Each mailing must meet the density requirement of at least 90% or more of the active residential addresses or 75% or more of the total number of active possible delivery addresses on each carrier route receiving this mail. This type of sorting reduces mail-handling time and speeds delivery, hence qualifying for walk sequence rates.
